Carlton Landing

Carlton Landing is a lake community all about community. Situated on Lake Eufala, this newest town in Oklahoma, is unique with its many pedestrian pathways, sidewalks and boardwalks, walking and hiking trails, outdoor communal spaces and porches at every house — the intent being to foster relationships, healthy and active living and a better connection with the environment.

Styled much like such towns as Seaside in Florida or more locally, the Wheeler District, in Oklahoma City, Carlton Landing is another example of new urbanism, a movement of community design taking root throughout the country. Basically, it is an attempt to create places that are people-centered — taking care to place cars behind homes instead of in front, reintroducing front porches to homes and building areas that foster interaction such as parks, these areas even bordering house properties.

In fact, the community received the Congress of New Urbanism's Charter Award in 2022.
